DISCOVER OUR
Technology
We do the same things that high-performance lab
chromatographs do, only 20 times smaller!
How do we achieve that?

Apix technology is…
Transportable
Thanks to miniaturization, we have
reduced the weight and volume of a
chromatograph by a factor of 20.
Plug n’ play
We bring chromatography directly to your
production line. It’s easy to implement
and up and running in a few hours.
How is it possible?
Miniaturization on silicon
We have developed a miniaturized technology on silicon to analyze and detect gases and liquids. It is called NGD as for Nano Gravimetric Detector. It is protected by more than 25 patents and was developed in partnership with the CEA and Caltech. It is based on NEMS (Nano Electro Mechanical System) technology.
How works the NGD?
An appropriate electrical voltage is applied to electrodes to drive into oscillation a resonant beam. The beam is functionalized with a sensitive porous layer that reacts to a molecule of interest. The molecule is adsorbed very briefly on the layer, changing the mass of the beam and as consequence its resonance of frequency.
Quantification
The change in frequency is proportional to the molecule weight trapped on the beam. This information allows to quantify the gas after calibration. Identification of the gas is done by the GC column coupled to the NGD
A wide spectrum of analysis
The NGD is unique in that it can detect any sorts of molecules from C5 to C32, making an ideal alternative to Flame Ionization Detectors (FID). It doesn’t require any flame and is natively explosive proof compliant. To measure light gases from hydrogen to C6, the NGD is coupled with a Thermal Conductivity (TCD).

The NGD is unique in that it can detect heavy gases, making it
an ideal alternative to Flame Ionization Detectors (FID).
For our customers to be able to also measure samples that
range from hydrogen to heavy oils, we couple our NGD detectors
with Thermal Conductivity Detectors (TCD).
This allows our customers to analyze the composition of all of
the substances circulating in their equipment
